Award for investments that make a long-term contribution to the development of Kardzhali
At an official ceremony organized by the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB) in cooperation with the Municipality of Kardzhali, “Monek Bulgaria” AD was awarded a certificate “For Its Investments in the Region.”
The event took place on June 23, 2026, under the patronage of the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria and brought together representatives of state institutions, local government, the business community, educational organizations, and social partners. The ceremony is part of the national initiative “Socially Responsible Partner of the Municipality,” through which KRIB honors companies that have made the most significant contributions to the economic development, social responsibility, and sustainable growth of Bulgarian municipalities.
This award is a recognition of Monek Bulgaria’s consistent investment policy, the establishment of high-tech manufacturing facilities, the creation of new jobs, and its active partnership with local and national authorities in implementing projects of public importance.
Recognition for Investments That Create Added Value
During the ceremony, Kolyo Angelov, Quality Director at “Monek Bulgaria,” thanked KRIB for the recognition and emphasized that the company views social responsibility as a genuine commitment to the people and the development of the region.
He highlighted one of the most significant initiatives related to the company’s investment in Kardzhali.
Monek Bulgaria’s investment project, valued at 15 million euros, supported by a a Class A Investment Certificate, enabled the state to provide nearly 5 million leva for the construction of new transportation infrastructure in the South Industrial Zone.
This is an example of how a private investment can serve as a catalyst for public investments that benefit the entire city.
The true value of an investment is measured by the benefits it brings to people.
Infrastructure with a long-term public impact
The proposed project includes the construction of a new road link to the South Industrial Zone, which will improve transportation access to both the industrial zone and the southern part of Kardzhali. State funding comes from a Class A Certificate issued by Monek Bulgaria AD and has already been transferred to the Kardzhali Municipality’s account.
The new route will provide:
- faster access to manufacturing facilities;
- safer movement of workers in the industrial zone;
- reducing traffic congestion on Belomorski Boulevard;
- better management of traffic flow;
- prerequisites for future improvements to the area around the reflecting pool.
Of particular importance is the fact that the project will contribute to the development of one of the most promising urban areas, located right next to the center of Kardzhali. The construction of the new infrastructure will create the conditions for a more modern, functional, and attractive urban environment for both residents and businesses.
“Monek Bulgaria” views this investment not only as a way to expand its own production, but also as an opportunity for the region’s sustainable development by improving transportation connectivity and the quality of urban infrastructure.
A Strong Partnership Between Business and Institutions
In his address, Kolyo Angelov expressed his gratitude to the Municipality of Kardzhali for its excellent cooperation in preparing the project and emphasized that such initiatives can only be carried out through active partnership between the business community, local authorities, and state institutions.
The company expressed confidence that the project will be successfully implemented and will contribute both to the development of the industrial zone and to improving the daily mobility of Kardzhali’s residents.
About the ceremony
This year’s edition of the “Socially Responsible Partner of the Municipality” initiative honored companies from the municipalities of Kardzhali, Ardino, Chernoochene, Krumovgrad, and Kirkovo for their contributions to the local economy, investment, education, sustainable development, and social responsibility.
Among the official guests at the event were representatives of the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB), the Bulgarian Investment Agency, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the Kardzhali Regional Administration, mayors of municipalities, business representatives, and social partners.
The following individuals from the municipality of Kardzhali received awards:

- “Monek Bulgaria” AD – for its investments in the region;
- “Teklas – Bulgaria” AD – for its contribution to the local economy;
- “Global Net Consult” EOOD – for its contribution to education and skills development;
- “Serta Bulgaria” AD – for a partnership for sustainable development;
- “Meatsa” EOOD – awarded the “Socially Responsible Partner of the Municipality” distinction.
The KRIB initiative aims to highlight successful examples of collaboration between the business community and local authorities and to encourage investments that foster sustainable economic development and a better quality of life.
